Right to Know Week - Exercise Your Rights
Do you know you have the right to access government information? Do you know how to exercise that right?
Under Ontario’s access and privacy laws, you can request access to your personal information – as well as general information − held by provincial and municipal government institutions.
During Right to Know Week (September 24 − 30) we raise awareness of this right and promote freedom of information as essential to a more transparent and democratic society.
The IPC works to uphold the public’s right to know and empower the public to exercise its access and privacy rights. As part of this work, we publish a number of guides and fact sheets to help institutions and the public navigate the freedom of information process.
