Access requests - information for institutions and the public

Are institutions required to respond to requests for access to information during the pandemic?

Yes. The obligation to comply with Ontario’s access laws remains in effect, and institutions must continue to process access requests.

We understand that some organizations may have had difficulty meeting the 30-day response requirement during the earlier periods of the pandemic. The IPC is considering the evolving circumstances when processing appeals.
