IPC Coming to Waterloo
The Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) will host a special event in Waterloo on Friday, May 31, at Wilfrid Laurier University, Science Building, 75 University Avenue in Waterloo. This event is part of the IPC’s Reaching Out to Ontario program.
Commissioner Brian Beamish, along with executives from the IPC, will update Ontarians on the emerging access and privacy issues currently facing the province’s health and public sectors and child and family services providers. The commissioner’s overview will touch on the latest developments at the IPC, including new legislation, mandatory breach reporting for the health sector, smart cities, and the IPC’s new role related to the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
Two panel sessions will follow. One will explore mandatory breach reporting in the health sector and new code of procedure for matters under PHIPPA. The other session will discuss the responsibilities of the child and family services sector, including children’s aid societies will have under Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act when the act takes effect on January 1, 2020.
The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.
