Privacy – individuals

Privacy is a fundamental right for all Ontarians. Government organizations that collect personal information must follow the rules set out in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). Health information custodians must follow the rules set out under the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Child and family service providers must follow the rules set out in Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
