Hundreds of hospital privacy violations go unreported

This morning, the Toronto Star looked into the large volume of privacy breaches in Ontario hospitals which are unreported. Acting Commissioner Beamish discussed the need for new legislation to force hospitals to report serious breaches:

“I definitely think it’s worth looking at. People are very protective of their health information, and when this type of thing happens it’s a very personal intrusion — people feel violated.”
