New PHIPA Code of Procedure

The IPC has published a new Code of Procedure for Matters under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004. This code comes into force on March 15, 2017, and will apply immediately to all IPC files under PHIPA. This code replaces the IPC’s “Code of Procedure for Access and Correction Complaints under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004,” with the result that the IPC now has a single comprehensive code applicable to all matters arising under PHIPA. Along with this new comprehensive code, the IPC will be publishing practice directions to provide guidance to parties exercising their rights and complying with their obligations under this code and PHIPA.

This new code is the final result of the IPC’s internal review of our PHIPA processes.
