Access to information
The role of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is set out in four privacy and access laws: the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA). The IPC acts independently of government to uphold and promote open government and the protection of personal privacy.
